A Family Home, Designed to Adapt

a family home, designed to adapt
Built from the ground up during the height of COVID, this Memphis home evolved in tandem with the young family it was created for. What began as a restful getaway for new parents soon needed to support the realities of full-time living as their family expanded from one tiny baby to three energetic kids. Over five years, Parrish and the team adapted the design to meet their shifting needs: transforming the husband’s paneled office into a more feminine, colorful workspace for the wife; adding a custom playroom tailored for creativity and learning; and enclosing the screened-in porch to create a lounge for entertaining and watching sports.

Throughout these updates, the home’s original spirit remains intact. Iconic large-scale florals, textured neutrals, and statement wallpapers—such as the custom Gracie mural in the dining room—create distinct pools of color and pattern that radiate from the central great room. The result is a home that grows gracefully with its family, maintaining a thoughtful balance of elegance, comfort, and everyday practicality.
“The one-of-a-kind joie de vivre aesthetic of the whole house and offers a whiff of carefree childhood days of the late ’70s—a truly personal paradise for the ages.”
